What JT Showed Me

Yesterday, I had to put down my beloved JT. One of the hardest things that I had to do. The house feels so empty with him not here. JT taught me how to love unconditionally. He showed me my presence in the world mattered. He dried my tears when I was sad. He took up my whole bed when sleeping at night. He met me at the door with pure excitement. Sometimes he would cry at the door because I was gone too long and he wanted me to know that. He showed me patience. When I would get derailed after our walk, he would wait for his treat in the kitchen. And he would wait until he got his treat. He played with such joy. He loved running around the house with me chasing him with his toy in his mouth. He would always want to be close to me. If I was doing work, in the bathroom, playing my horn; he was never far away. JT showed me that even when I didn’t believe in myself that I mattered. He showed by getting me to pet him, looking in his eyes and just connecting with him. He loved to eat my pizza crust or lick my ice cream. He loved barking at the fedex and Amazon drivers. He always wanted me to be and feel safe. I was so blessed to have him in my life. When I thought I was lost, he showed me love is always the answer. JT saved me when I got a divorce and struggled. He showed me life is worth living. I am so grateful God gave me JT.
