Through Loss Comes Love

We go about our day concerned about money, work, relationships, neighbors, daily chores, church, band, boxing, strenth trainning, social justice, lgbtqia+ issues and our family. But as we age, we find our inner citcle gets smaller.

Certainly, not by choice but by the calling of others to move on to their next step in their journey. I recently loss someone who was the older brother that I never had. He was the smartest person that I knew. He frustrated me, he made me laugh, but most importantly I loved him unconditionally.

He was over 500 pounds and his life was tough as you can imagine. But he at the end, found true happiness. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss him. He promised me that he would only leave this earth when I was able to navigate life without him. But when he left, he gave me the greatest gift a person can give. He gave me the opportunity to connect with his other best friend, Tracey.

Out of great loss, has been an angel (Tracey) offered to me as a special person in my life. Through this angel, I am able to speak authentically, express my deepest fears, and share my memories of David.

When we lose someone, no one can ever be replaced. They hold a special place in our hearts. But if we are open, other people will come into our lives and touch us in other ways we never thought were possible. Loss of love breaks our heart open to become even greater at loving others if we allow it.One of my reverends said to me “everyone has their time.” Indeed, I believe that to be true.

But as I have navigated great loss. I have found a strong human connection in someone else. The divine supports us for our greater good. But it’s true faith to hold an inner knowing that great loss can also contain great love. Thank you for letting me share. Namaste.
